Probably one of the oldest and most widely used backsplash designs in every kitchen would be the subway tile backsplash. This design has been around since the 1900s, gaining wider popularity amongst Americans by the 1930s. Nowadays, this specific type of backsplash design is normally seen in homes that are trying to incorporate the country theme to their homes.
Looking for the perfect complement to ivory painted cabinetry? Consider a chocolate-brown tile backsplash. Warm and elegant it is a beautiful contrast to light painted cabinets and blends well with earthy hued stone countertops. Think metal backsplashes are too industrial? Think again.
You want to pick something that complements it and, of course, pick one that is washable so that you can easily remove all the "splashes" that occur during normal kitchen activities.
However, make sure that you cover the whole surface of the tile because even a small area that is left untreated will oxidize. You can clean most metal tiles using dishwashing detergent and warm water. Wash them down using micro fiber cloth, making sure you rinse them thoroughly so there will be no smudges.
